i've been thinking about jen every minute of these days.
i like to think that, like Andrea said, she has gone onto something so amazing and too indescribably beauitful for words. i like to think that we should all be envious of her getting to experience this...but while trying to believe and have faith, the questions are incessant. Why now, when she had only twenty three years here? Why now when she was probably the most happy she has been? Why had they not been in that spot 5 minutes later or earlier? How will her family cope? Raising a daughter and keeping her safe all those years, willing to do anything for her to keep her safe and happy and then..she's gone. Burying a daughter. I can't even imagine how that must hurt, how unnatural that must feel. And there they sat, Mr and Mrs. Loveless and Ashley, with sweet faces, holding one another and you could just see the love amongst them and how tight they are. Watching them walk away, arms tightly around one another, one less member now of their beautiful family. Mr. Loveless giving everyone these giant dad bear hugs.

I have no doubt every person here has a purpose. It's trying to see that purpose that is difficult and that people ponder for their entire lives. People scramble for reasons when someone they love is taken, especially at such a young age. They need that closure, something to dull the pain a little. But all you had to do was look around at Jen's wake and funeral mass to see her purpose...she touched every life that stood in that endless line of people. She brought a smile to everyone in those rooms, made them laugh, watched a TV Land rerun with them, read a book aloud with them, went camping with them, ate a meal with them, babysat them, brought someone sheer joy just by being born, shared love with them, shared a hug with them, learned something from them, taught them something, bought something at a garage sale with them, argued with them, cried with them, spent an afternoon with them, shared her life with them. Maybe that is essentially everyone's purpose...simply sharing themselves, their life and their love. The little things like watching a Lifetime movie with her friend...making someone else happy to have her company for an hour.
a soul too pure to stay. a star so bright, she burned out quickly, rather than fading away

Courtney, this is a very moving post. I especially like the following line; "Maybe that is essentially everyone's purpose...simply sharing themselves, their life and their love." That is so simple yet incredibly profound and meaningful. I'm sorry to hear about your friend and hope that you are all feeling better.

I would have loved to; I thought you were coming back to Button's though instead of staying in Jamestown. Soon though!
